We built a consultancy for the businesses everyone else overlooks — independent stores that need straight answers, fair prices, and someone who will tell them when not to spend.
Not enterprises. Not startups. Not national brands with marketing departments. Independent local stores in Edmonton and across Alberta — and everything about how we work is shaped around that.
Edmonton has thousands of hard-working store owners who are excellent at what they do — selling furniture, auto parts, mattresses, flooring, appliances. They know their products and they know their customers. What they don't know is Google Ads, SEO, meta pixels, and domain authority. And they shouldn't have to.
The pattern we kept seeing was always the same. A store owner signs up with a marketing company, pays $1,000–$2,000 a month, receives reports nobody can interpret, and six months later cannot point to a single customer it produced. They cancel — burned and sceptical — then either do nothing or repeat the cycle with a different agency. Worse, they never find out where the money actually went or who did the work.
Get Marketed was built to work the opposite way. We charge for judgement, not for hours of activity you cannot verify. We tell you when something isn't worth buying, including when that something is us. And we never take a cut of anyone else's work, so our advice has nothing riding on it.
The people who advise you, plan your work, review what gets produced, and answer your phone are local. They understand the Edmonton market, its seasons, its neighbourhoods, and how a store on 118th Avenue differs from one in Sherwood Park. This is the part you deal with.
Web developers, designers, technical SEO specialists and content producers who do the building. You engage and pay them directly, at their price, with no markup from us. You can use your own provider instead — we will manage them just the same.
Why the split matters: keeping advice separate from execution is the only way our recommendations stay honest. A firm that profits from building websites will usually conclude that you need a website. We do not profit from any of it, so when the answer is "spend nothing and fix what you already have," we are free to say so — and we often do.
Get Marketed was founded after years of hearing the same frustration from store owners across Edmonton: they were paying for marketing they could not understand, could not verify, and could not question without being buried in jargon.
What began as a handful of local stores asking for a straight answer became a consultancy built around exactly that — plain language, fixed prices, and no financial interest in what you decide to buy. The team has grown around that principle, and it still decides how we work.
Using jargon that store owners don't understand isn't expertise — it's a way to avoid accountability. If you can't explain what you're doing in plain terms, you probably shouldn't be doing it.
We treat your marketing budget the way you treat every dollar in your store. We don't spend it unless we can explain what it's supposed to do and how we'll know if it worked.
We don't upsell services you don't need. We don't recommend platforms that aren't right for your store just because they're profitable for us. We tell you what we honestly think.
We work with a focused group of local stores so we can actually know each client's business, be available when they call, and give advice specific to their situation — not a copy-paste strategy.
More phone calls. More foot traffic. Lower cost per customer. Those are the numbers that matter to a store owner — not "domain authority" or "engagement rate."
The people who plan your work, review what gets produced, and answer your phone are here in Edmonton. Execution partners do the building, and we manage them for you — briefs, deadlines, quality checks. You are never left chasing a developer or working out a timezone.
We've learned that our work is most effective with a specific type of client. We'd rather be upfront about that than take your money and underdeliver.
You run a local, owner-operated store in Edmonton or Alberta
You sell physical products from a store
Your marketing budget is between $100 (one-time fixes) and $3,000/month
You want to understand what you're paying for — not just hand it off
You're willing to be honest about what's not working so we can fix it
You're a large company with an in-house marketing team
You want set-it-and-forget-it with zero communication
You need overnight results — good marketing compounds over weeks and months
The marketing industry is full of companies that sell you everything bundled together for a flat monthly fee that never changes no matter how your business does. That's not us.
We're a consultancy. We start by understanding your business and recommending only what makes sense for your specific situation. We don't have a package to sell you. We have a conversation to have with you.
What "consultancy" means for you: We'll sometimes tell you that you don't need to spend more money — you just need to fix something that's already there. We'll sometimes tell you that the company you're already paying is actually doing a good job and you should keep them. We give you honest advice.
About our team: Every client relationship is managed directly from Edmonton. Execution — web development, graphic design, technical SEO, content creation — is carried out by an independent execution partner that you engage and pay directly. You deal with one local contact. We brief, manage, and quality-check the partner on your behalf, so you are never left chasing anyone.
Marketing has its own language — SEO, PPC, CTR, ROAS, meta pixel, domain authority. These terms mean something to marketers. To a mattress store owner, they mean nothing — and they shouldn't have to.
"Your products showing up in Google with photos" instead of "Google Shopping product feed optimization." Same thing. Completely different conversation. That's how we talk to you — every time.
Strategy. Setup guidance. Project coordination. Campaign management. Reporting. Quality control. Everything that requires expertise and judgement — that's our fee.
Web development. Graphic design. Technical SEO work. Content creation. Their costs are quoted before work starts and paid directly from you to them — we take no cut.
We are not tied to any one provider, and we never earn a commission on who you pick. There are three ways this works:
You already have someone. A developer, designer, or agency you trust. Keep them. We brief them, manage them, review their work, and hold them to the standard — you keep the relationship and pay them exactly as you do now.
You need someone. We introduce you to a partner from our pre-approved list — specialists we have vetted and worked with before. You review their quote and decide. If you would rather not use them, that is completely fine.
A mix of both. Your web person handles the site while a partner of ours handles content or technical SEO. We coordinate across all of them so nothing falls through the cracks.
In every case you contract and pay the execution partner directly. Our fee covers our advice, coordination, and oversight — nothing else.
Why this matters for you: Most agencies mark up subcontractor work by 30–50% and never tell you. We don't. Just like you pay Google directly for ad clicks — not through us — you pay the execution partner directly for their work. We coordinate everything. You see exactly what everyone costs — and because we take no cut, we have no reason to push you toward a bigger quote.
Free 30-minute consultation with our team. No pitch. No pressure. Just an honest conversation about what's happening with your marketing and what could be better.
